About the Annual Fund

1.  What is the annual fund?

Since 1963, The Brownstone School has provided a non-profit, early childhood education program for families from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, and your support allows us to continue that mission. The Annual Fund is crucial to help cover operating expenses, maintain a strong financial assistance program, and offer enrichment activities that enable our students to learn and grow.

2. What is the time period of the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund runs from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

3. Who gives to the annual fund?

Board members, parents, parents of alumni, faculty, and staff. As a reflection of our community’s commitment to The Brownstone School, Board members have achieved 100 percent giving.

4. I already pay tuition, why should I give?

While tuition covers much of our operating budget, it does not cover it in its entirety. The Annual Fund helps close the gap between your tuition dollars and the full cost of operating our school. Your support allows The Brownstone School to:

  • Provide curriculum and teacher/professional development

  • Maintain and enhance our own landmarked building

  • Offer financial assistance, which comprises 10% of our annual budget

 

5. What are the different giving levels?

  • Friends of Brownstone: $0-$499

  • Supporters of Brownstone: $500-$2,499

  • Loyalists of Brownstone: $2,500-$5,000

  • Advocates of Brownstone: $5,000+

 

6. If I have a limited budget to give to The Brownstone School, do you prefer I support a PA fundraiser or the annual fund?

We appreciate your participation in various fundraisers that allow us to attract, support and retain our students and faculty members. We formally ask all families to demonstrate their shared confidence in The Brownstone School and commitment to its mission by making a gift to the 2019-20 Annual Giving Campaign. Our goal is 100% participation from our families.

 

7. How much am I expected to give?

On average, our families have donated $2,500, but no donation is too great or small. It is your support and commitment to the school that is most valuable. 

 

8. I’d like to spread my gift over time. Can I make a pledge?

Yes! Please contact Latonya Edwards if you would like to set up a monthly contribution to our school.

 

9. What is an employer matching gift program?

Corporations that offer matching gift programs allow your support to go even further by doubling or even tripling your donation. Please contact Latonya Edwards or your employer to see if there is a matching gift program.

 

10. Is my donation tax deductible?

100% of your gift is tax deductible. If you would like your donation to be included for this calendar year tax benefit, donations must be received by December 31, 2019.
